Aerophibians (derived from "aero" and "amphibian") are an alien species of flying manta ray-like beings from the misty water planet Aeropela. Aeropela is a planet that is completely covered in water, most species there are either water or air inhabitants. The only form of dry land on Aeropela are the large rock formations known as Spiral Rocks, towering spike-like mountains that reach more the 300 to 500 feet above the Aeropela’s sea level. Aerophibians have built cities inside many of largest of the Spiral Rocks to shelter against the planet’s more extreme weather. Aeropela doesn't offer very good weather, it is constantly visited by fog, rain, and hurricanes, plus the occasional monsoon or tsunami.

Aerophibians are large, red and yellow aliens similar in appearance to a manta-ray. They have hands with 3 digits, and feet with 2 digits. They have yellow horns above their eyes, which has a yellow stripe leading down to yellow lips. They have small, lizard-like tails. They have ray-like wings, which are yellow in front and red in back. Their sides have markings that resemble gills, and they have a zigzag/lightning strike pattern around their upper torso. Aerophibians are perfectly adapted to their planet weather conditions and unique challenges of their world.

They can breathe both underwater and on land, making them an all-terrain species. With their gills, a streamlined body, and bat-line membrane ray-like wings make them expert swimmers and flyers, able to survive in the air and waters of Aeropela. Having to fly in the misty weather of their planet, the Aerophibians have evolved very sophisticated sonar, far superior than that of bat or whales and so accrued that they can find an nickel on the ocean floor. Unfortunately, their eye sight is very limited and they can only see people and objects if they are really close. They also developed the ability to produce beams from their eyes and tail that disable the targets nervous system (or "neuroshock blasts") as well a poisonous crest on its head(this has not been seen so far). In the prehistoric times of Aeropela the Aerophibians used the neuroshock blasts to paralyze their prey so the they can eat peacefully at their leisure. Nowadays Aerophibians use this ability only for self-defense and to protect themselves against large predators. Only male Aerophibians been seen, so it is unknown what female Aerophibians look like.
